This past July, John celebrated 10 years with the department.

John joined the department at a time when he was ready to retire from retail pharmacy and wanted to do something useful and meaningful in our community. As you are aware, Clay County is facing severe weather from the tropical storm Helene over the next few days

Current projections could leave us with 4-8 inches of rain per the National Weather Service in Morristown, TN. They are also forecasting heavy straight-line winds up to 50 miles per hour. This could lead to flash flooding, power outages, and impassable roads. The storm is currently working its way through the Gulf Coast. Clay County Fire and Rescue had a busy afternoon today starting with a report of a residential structure fire in the Greasy Creek Rd area of Brasstown. Fire personnel responded to the call for service with multiple apparatus along with Clay County EMS.

Fire at Rib Country Quickly Contained by Emergency Responders

This afternoon, Clay County Fire and Rescue swiftly responded to a report of a possible commercial structure fire at Rib Country, a beloved local restaurant. Around 4:20 p.m., smoke was reported coming from the building, prompting a rapid dispatch of Clay County Fire and Rescue, Clay County EMS, the Clay County Sheriff's Office, and the Clay County Fire Marshal.
