On Friday, August 23, children at the Hayesville Child Development Center enjoyed a memorable day of summertime fun, thanks to Clay County Fire and Rescue (CCFR). The department provided a fire apparatus, known as a Tender—which is primarily used to supply water to fire engines during firefighting operations—and personnel to spray the kids with water as they played in the sun. The students not only enjoyed cooling off but also learned a bit about how fire trucks work.

After the activities, staff, students, and fire personnel shared refreshments and pizza, a favorite treat for both children and adults.
"This event is one of the many ways we at Clay County Fire and Rescue strive to engage with the communities we serve," said firefighters at the event. "Children are our greatest asset, and we cherish any opportunity to bring joy and education to them."
Photos from the event will be available on our website at www.clayncfire.org in the Photos section.

If you would like Clay County Fire and Rescue to participate in an event at your school, daycare, or place of business, please reach out through the "Contact Us" tab on our website. Simply fill out the form, and a member of CCFR will get in touch with you.

As summer winds down and children return to school, Clay County Fire and Rescue reminds everyone to exercise caution during busy transit hours and to be vigilant for stopped school buses and children at bus stops. Please familiarize yourself with the laws regarding the passing of stopped school buses and consider leaving a bit earlier to accommodate any delays.

We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful summer and wish you all a safe and happy remainder of the year.
