| Compared to our previous badge, the new design is something uniquely our own.
Our old badge used a traditional design commonly seen among fire departments across North Carolina. While it served us well for many years, the design had become dated, and because each badge was individually numbered, keeping badges in stock for new members joining the department could be difficult.
With the new badge, we wanted something that was unmistakably fire service, easily distinguished from law enforcement, and most importantly, something that represented Clay County.
Since we were already ordering a complete new set for our entire membership, the manufacturer offered to design a custom center seal for us at no additional cost. We took advantage of that opportunity to create something truly unique to Clay County Fire & Rescue, featuring our historic old courthouse and the beautiful mountain landscape that makes our county home.
It may seem like a small detail, but we’re proud that when our members wear this badge, they’ll be wearing something designed specifically for the department and the community they serve.
